That's crazy. Her baby was already dead inside. She just wanted to get it out. It's not like she was aborting it. Who knows how long or what complications she could have before it came out on It's own. Sometimes people's convictions go a little to far and off base.

conservative will all burn in hell the hypocrisy many of these people have is beyond Christian or God loving.
They value family values but choose a pussy grabbing president who cheats on his pregnant wife with a stripper

They value family values but don't do shit to help many of the children in foster care

They value family value yet call migrant children criminals. Guarantee you many of these conservatives have no idea that it's immigrants who own majority of business and are most likely to start companies. It's immigrants who do the job's Americans don't want to do hence keeping prices low amongst other thing's. I could go on all day but no point explaining shit to a trumpanzee children have more brain cell and humility then many of them.

I had a similar experience over 10 years ago, with a Walgreen's pharmacist, when my 17 year old daughter tried to fill her prescription for birth control pills. I gave her a ride to the store to do it, and she came to me sobbing when the creep wouldn't fill the prescription. I then confronted him, say "I'm her mother, who are you to assert your beliefs over mine?". He still refused, so I went to the manager, got her prescription filled and the a-hole fired. My only regret is my poor daughter was embarrassed. If you don't want to fill prescriptions, don't become a pharmacist. Period.

He took her freedom away. He took her freedom away from making her own choices about her own body. He should have no right to do that. He’s not a fucking doctor. And it’s not his body. Fill the prescription or get a different fucking job.

Having worked for Walgreens a store manager could not have filled or sold that prescription without signing off on it. You still need a licensed pharmacist to have filled it hence they asked her to come tomorrow for another pharmacist or a transfer to another WG pharmacy.

When you work for the public, you need to check your beliefs at the door. If you have issues with religious beliefs and job directions then you have no business working there.

The biggest issue here was the pharmacist didn't do his due diligence and he seemed to handle the situation poorly.

By Arizona State law he has the right to refuse based on moral reasons. I don't agree with this law and as a soon to be pharmacist I think the law should change. But that's it's own story.

The most common responses I see are that "the baby was dead" the only way the pharmacist could be sure of this is calling the doctor, this is what I mean by not doing his due diligence. I'm sure this pharmacist has heard patient say the fetus was dead when in reality it might not have been… I know it's messed up to stay or think but people lie to pharmacists all day and every day.

Lastly the pharmacist should never be a barrier to proper healthcare, he needed to handle the situation better explain his situation and find a pharmacist who will fill it for her. The issue with other pharmacy law is everyone saying he should get a manager to help her, pharmacy law states the pharmacist on duty has to do the final check, store manager couldn't do anything about that. And no other pharmacist were on duty so it was just him, but he needs to do a better job communicating and helping the patient get their prescriptions.

Tldr – 1 I disagree with the law and the pharmacist needs to step up and help his patients. 2 more questions need to be answered and it's tough to judge what happened without being there. 3 just a question to other watchers. Would this have been as big of an issue if it was a female pharmacist?

I live in Mesa, not too far from her. The thing that kills me the most about this story, is the fact that she had to be publicly shamed for what her body was doing in front of her son. If you have a sincerely held religious belief that might interfere with you doing your job, then don't take that job. Go practice your sincerely held religious believes doing something. Not to mention that by denying her medication he put her at risk, there are a lot of health risk that can happen to a woman if while having a miscarriage she doesn't get the fetus out of her. I sincerely hope that this guy gets fired because he violated Walgreens policy, and I hope she can sue him. For those not aware Walgreens policy, states that if a pharmacist has an issue giving someone medication because of a belief, then they can pass the medication off the someone else to hand to the patient. She had actually asked him if he could just hand it to one of the other people working behind the counter, and he refused on top of that the manager refused to take her complaint seriously. I sincerely hope that both of these people get fired. My heart just breaks for this woman.

This is one of the things I don't understand about conservatives. I hear so much talk about personal freedom and protecting the rights of the individual but on the most important personal freedom of all, the right to decide what happens with a person's own body, they want to get in everyone else's business. The only people who should ever have a say in what medication or medical care an individual recieves is the doctor and the person involved. No business owner, no insurance company whose only goal is to make money, and certainly not some random pharmacist who has no clue what the circumstances are. Your rights and freedoms to make decisions about healthcare should start and stop with yourself. Nobody should have the right to infringe of someone else's right to choose for themselves.

In Canada that pharmacist would have been fired on the spot. Hes got a job to do . A prescription has been provided by a doctor. This knucklehead was a political hack. Nothing more. Reality doesn't particularly care about his beliefs. He chose to be a pharmacist. He doesn't get to make the rules. Prescription-Drugs Repeat if necessary. Dead Simple. A no brainer.

AZ has a good law here. No person should be forced to participate in helping a person kill their unborn child. I understand this is a unique situation, but the woman should have received proper medical care for a D&C and not self prescribed this treatment.
From everything I've seen reported , the pharmacist did not "publicly humiliate" her, but explained to her at the counter what their position was. Most pharmacies have a "safety zone" where other customers are supposed to be several feet away from the counter so that conversations with the pharmacist are private.

Why is this guy a pharmacist?  Go do something else.  I wonder if he objects to filling other prescriptions involving women's reproduction.  I bet he doesn't have a problem with Viagra or Cialis.  What a vile lack of human compassion.  Whatever his "religious or moral" beliefs he holds maybe he should try to include basic decency and kindness.

Not trying to take sides here, but the full story shows, that she only went to one doctor and for one session only that lasted less than an hour. The doctor concluded that there was no heartbeat. If she was so anxious or serious to have this baby, why did she not go to another doctor or clinic for second or third opinion to make sure the initial doctor or the test itself were not flawed? By experience, any mother who truly wanted her baby, would have never easily taken action to end the pregnancy by just one clinical visit, don't you think?

There are no moral high grounds here for this pharmacist period, this shouldn’t have happened. Until recently, women in Argentina with a dead fetus would have to wait the whole nine months before being allowed to have it removed. This clearly is wrong and unnecessarily endangers the woman's life. This is what happens when people who really don't understand the issues make laws. Thank God she was able to get her prescription from another pharmacist.
