I think helping people sort of got me interested in doing medicine. Whenever I was in high school, I went on a mission trip and we helped build houses and that got me really excited about helping people out as a career. I heard they were building a hospital close to where I grew up in Harrison, and I have a lot of friends and family there, so was really excited about the opportunity and to come back and work for Arkansas Children’s. We offer a full diagnostic pediatric cardiology clinic so echocardiograms, EKG’s, clinic visits, some diagnostic studies in regard to outpatient monitoring of cardiac rhythms. So we do all the diagnosis and can help facilitate treatment and oftentimes cure. What I would tell parents about what separates us at ACNW is that its a very kid-friendly place. If the kids uncomfortable we have Child Life services that can help provide some normalization about whats going on and everybody is on the same page about treating kids and everybody is very kid friendly and understands that kids arent little adults, they’re different and we try to individualize that and really treat them as such.
