Awesome video, very helpful. Thank you. So… My cousin Valia lives currently in Brooklyn . She has I think one year left to become a psychiatrist. You have limited time before she returnes to Greece. You can marry her (for love, not the visa) and you'll always have a summer beach home in Greece 😎

Do allergies to pain killers work the same as allergies to antibiotics? I throw up violently after taking hydrocodone and oxycodone. As of age 25 so not a childhood thing.

I enjoy these videos. They’re really informative and as a nurse it guides me in proper health education to the patients, I encounter as well. I hope that you can also have other topics with other medical professionals in different fields like dermatology, gastro, pulmonology, pediatrics, ortho and etc. 💙

I found out about the milk and mucous myth about a year ago and never heard it before. I wonder if it’s a US thing? Here in Poland people are actually encouraged to drink milk with honey when they’re sick, I think mostly because it tastes and feels nice, nothing got to do with medicine/health.

I get allergic symptoms, hives, swelling, flushing etc which I've been told is not actually caused by an allergy, yet have high IgE levels.  Can you do a video on  mast cell activation disorders, chronic spontaneous urticaria or possible conditions along those lines? Would also love if you made a video on rare diseases/conditions at some point!

I don’t understand why people keep saying hypoallergenic dogs exist, still, today…this myth was busted a decade ago, pretty publicly from what I thought. At this point it should be common knowledge to anyone looking into a pet or with a pet 🤷🏻‍♀️

Me and my dog are both allergic to pine… I live in Colorado.😕 I used to live in tx so moving to an arena filled with pine trees sucks because we didn’t know before. Luckily it’s a very small allergy, sneezing, watery eyes, and a stuffy nose. My dogs eyes get really goopy.

OMG I legit got my dog after rubbing her all over my face and begging the god God's she didn't make me busy out in hives. I've had her for a year and no allergy's yet thank God!

I have severe dog allergies and I have mast cell activation syndrome probably die to the ehlers-danlos syndrome and pots. ( The trifecta as they call it) I was so worried at first that id never own a dog till I got her and I'm so so happy

Edit: with the mast cell activation Syndrome I am on a triple histomine blocker treatment.

Pepcid AC (better then zantac)
Singular
Zertec
Everyone's different but it works well for me

I have an oral allergy issue. I can’t eat raw whale as an Iñuit. I get a nice plump tongue, with an itchy mouth and throat and my breathing gets slightly harder to do. I can eat it cooked and pickled though. Mom use to use a little tiny bit of peanut butter mixed with apple sauce or on crackers when I was a baby with water in my bottle or sippy cup.

Issues with proteins being seen the same is a mast cell thing.

It was said by a mast cell specialist at a ehlers danlos conference 2 years ago was that most allergist have seen mast cell disorder or syndrome patient at many times very often and don't even realize it. Some zebras are NOT as rare as you think and it's so depressing you guys don't try to research this more.

Also with mast cell issues it can take up to a week for your body to react.

I am unable to have milk and because of my mast cell activation syndrome I can't have soy because to the mast cells the protein looks the same even tho they are both different.

29:27 last I heard, Pluto was a dwarf planet from the next solar system over from ours and it’s pathway intersects with our system in a way that makes it appear as if it’s a part of our system. Pluto’s system is also all dwarf planets? Idk it was something from a science show like 10 years ago so 🤷🏼‍♂️ take that as you will

If you do something like this again, I have a question for you:

When most people think of allergies, they think of itchy eyes/throat and sneezing, but I seem to have allergies that make me cough and swell up my hands, feet, ect. in a way that they hurt. Is this normal? Is taking allergy medicine every day really the right thing to do?

I developed a peanut allergy at 16 years old. Ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and next thing I know I’m being rushed to the ER. I’m now 34. I haven’t had peanuts or peanut butter since that day (18 years ago). Any chance I’m not allergic anymore?? Because I’m allergic, my 3 year old never gets peanut butter bc I can’t feed it to him. I hope he’s not allergic too.

Me and my boyfriend recently suspected that I was allergic to apple and pears because my mouth/throat itches when i eat them and i occasionally have stomach aches. And now it makes so much sense! I have pollen allergy and take medication for it, so now i know that i absolutely have oral allergy symptom!

Hey Doctor Mike, my Mother is against the flu shot. She says she doesn't need it every year because she hasn't gotten the flu before & the last time she had the flu shot was 30 years ago. I've explained herd immunity & how the benefits outweigh the risks but she is a very stubborn woman. She says she will get the flu shot when she gets older but I think she should start getting it now. Any advice on how to convince her to get it? I'm out of ideas. Love your videos!!

Hey Dr Mike recently Trump said that America will be prepared for a national coronavirus epidemic, if one does happen. Do you think what he said makes sense or could even be correct, or that he doesn't have the right to say that as it's a new virus. And what do you think will happen if there really is a national outbreak, will you be ready or not?

I love that you brought up hypoallergenic animals first. I'm highly allergic to most all animals with fur (dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, sugar gliders) and everyone just says "oh why not just get a hypoallergenic animal, you'll be fine" and they wouldn't believe me that it won't help. 🤷 I knew i was right but that myth is so popular and believed.

I had the flu shot having egg allergy and I ended up in the hospital later that day because I was feeling very unwell to the point my neck swelled up so much I could not breath anymore. Never had the flu shot again since. I am not saying this will happen to everyone, but it did to me. What I am saying….is that it can happen. Maybe to 1 in a million. All the best doctor.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HYPOALLERGENIC PET
It's a marketing gimmick, that sold millions of dollars of poodle crosses.

Some dogs shed more than others, and if your issue is HAIR then you can get hairless pets.
But that'll only help if your allergy is specifically hair.

There is a lot different info about how regular you should wash clothing and bedsheets, and I really would like your perspective on it. I feel like a lot info is about avoiding germs or getting rid of germs and bacteria as soon as possible. But there is some benefit to being slightly exposed to germs right? Given the affect on the immune system you talk about here. So I would really like to see a video where you talk about after how many wears we should wash clothing, sportswear, bed sheets, pillowcases, jackets , etc. And why. And the dependency on for example how much you sweat, if it’s winter or summer, if you sleep with or without clothes, etc.

Last year i know i had mild cat allergies that i just need to use some citirizen, then i studied that you can be immunized by prolong exposure of the said allergen. Then last june my sis got a new cat, so i had to test this theory on myself, every time i had allergies i just had to drink some anti histamine. After 2 months i noticed that my allergies were gone. I was amazed with what your immune system can actually do.
